1. I was glad when they said to me,

1. “Let us go into the house of the Lord.”

2. Our feet shall stand

2. within your gates, O Jerusalem.

3. Jerusalem is built as a city

3. that is designed for a multitude,

4. where the tribes go up,

4. the tribes of the Lord,

4. as a decree of Israel,

4. to give thanks unto the name of the Lord.

5. There are set thrones of judgment,

5. the thrones of the house of David.

6. Pray for the peace of Jerusalem:

6. “May they prosper who love you!

7. Peace be within your walls

7. and security within your towers!”

8. For my brothers and companions’ sake,

8. I will now say, “Peace be within you.”

9. Because of the house of the Lord our God,

9. I will seek your good.
