1. In the Lord I seek refuge;
1. how do you say to my soul,
1. “Flee as a bird to your mountain,
2. for the wicked bend their bow;
2. they make ready their arrow on the string,
2. that they may treacherously shoot
2. the upright in heart.
3. If the foundations are broken,
3. what can the righteous do?”
4. The Lord is in His holy temple,
4. His throne is in heaven;
4. His eyes see,
4. His eyes examine mankind.
5. The Lord tests the righteous,
5. but the wicked and one who loves violence
5. His soul hates.
6. Upon the wicked He will rain
6. coals of fire and brimstone and a burning wind;
6. this will be the portion of their cup.
7. For the righteous Lord
7. loves righteousness;
7. His countenance beholds the upright.
