who forgives all your sins
and heals all your diseases,
But he was pierced for our transgressions,
he was crushed for our iniquities;
the punishment that brought us peace was on him,
and by his wounds we are healed.
When evening came, many who were demon-possessed were brought to him, and he drove out the spirits with a word and healed all who were ill.
This was to fulfil what was spoken through the prophet Isaiah:
‘He took up our infirmities
and bore our diseases.’
‘He himself bore our sins’ in his body on the cross, so that we might die to sins and live for righteousness; ‘by his wounds you have been healed.’
