5. Longing for Intimacy without Embarrassment

God's dream has always been to share his heart with us in a way that surpasses anything we know or can imagine. God created us with a deep desire to know and be fully known without any constraints.

Eden was a place created by God so that there was intimacy between God and us. The first man and woman lived in this place of intimacy.

Sin brought embarrassment and broke the intimacy with God away from this place created by God so that we could meet Him everyday as our family members.

Jesus was well aware of this yearning for intimacy that he chose a group of people to share his life and one of his teachings was about this intimacy.

"That they may all be one, as you, Father, art in me, and I in you; that they also may be one in us, that the world may believe that you sent me. glory which you have given me, that they may be one, as we are one. I in them, and you in me, that they may be perfect in unity, and that the world may know that you sent me, and that you have them loved them as you have loved me. John 17:21-23

The human heart craves intimacy; that is why the enemy of our souls seeks to exploit this yearning by placing before us many paths that offer false intimacy that lead to shame.

This is the real reason why we should look for intimacy in the right place. Let's look at some aspects of this intimacy:

1. How to find this intimacy without embarrassment?

Intimacy means much more than physical union. It is the strengthening of the security that people have in each other that allows them to share the deepest areas of their hearts, in dreams and hopes; unafraid of your failures, your feelings and your frustrations.

Intimacy requires trust. Certainly intimacy with God is extremely secure and will fully satisfy our heart's longing for intimacy.

While human intimacy is limited in scope, intimacy with God continues for eternity and has no reservations.

"Then having, brethren, boldness to enter the sanctuary by the blood of Jesus, By the new and living way which he consecrated for us, by the veil, that is, by his flesh, And having a great priest over the house of God, let us come with a true heart, in full assurance of faith, having our hearts cleansed from an evil conscience, and our bodies washed with clean water." Hebrews 10:19-22

2. Having intimacy in our victory and prosperity

God is our best coach, supporter, sponsor and defender. He is extremely interested in our success according to the purposes He Himself has set for each of us.

God sees in you a potential that not even you see today, even knowing your flaws he looks beyond them; for the success that you will have in your future, however the circumstances are contrary, he says to you: “You will make it”

The Lord celebrates now and then in us. He is interested in celebrating with you along your journey of intimacy with Him.

3. Having intimacy in our pains and sufferings

You will certainly notice that one of the times when we are most intimate with God is when we experience suffering.

In fact, the pain of persecution and the pain of our failure go hand in hand with the process of knowing and experiencing Jesus on more intimate levels.

"for we do not have a high priest who cannot pity our weaknesses, but one who, like us, has passed through all kinds of temptations, but without sin. So let us approach the throne of grace with all confidence, that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need. Hebrews 4:15,16

4. Being intimate with us in our sacrifices

We are all called to make sacrifices every day.

The coexistence with other people, whether in the relationship between parents and children, husband and wife, between siblings, require constant sacrifices because we are often subject to desires and desires that are distinct and contrary to each other.

These are the small sacrifices we have to make in life.

Christ's life is an example of constant sacrifice. His coming into the world in human form was a sacrifice we are not able to fully understand.

"If that were so, Christ would have had to suffer many times since the beginning of the world. But now he has appeared once and for all at the end of time, to annihilate sin through the sacrifice of himself. Hebrews 9:26

5. Having Intimacy in knowing the passions of our heart

We have passions in our hearts. Some like to play, others to dance, others like technology. We feel fulfilled when we fulfill our heart's passion to the full.

The musician feels fulfilled playing music, whether at home or in an auditorium.
The businessman feels great satisfaction in a job well done.

God intimately knows the passions He has specifically planned for our hearts. He rejoices when we express ourselves in this way. He rejoices with us.

Today in a world full of people who yearn for intimacy Jesus is telling you:

“I'm here to meet you. I rejoiced in your success. I will cry with you in your times of failure and pain. I will understand your sacrifices and affirm the passions that make you unique in time and eternity. I will be truly intimate with you. I will meet you and you will meet me, and there will be no shame in it.”
